Carmel By The Sea, California

Situated 120 miles south of San Francisco, Carmel-by-the-Sea, often called simply Carmel, is a town located on the Monterey Peninsula of California. Founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916, Carmel is a quaint beach town known for its natural beauty and vibrant artistic background.

The town of around 4,000 residents is known for being dog-friendly, with numerous establishments, including hotels and restaurants, allowing guests with dogs. Additionally there are many famous celebrities that reside in Carmel either full or part-time with one in particular, actor-director Clint Eastwood, having held the position of mayor from 1986-1988.

Carmel has several famous landmarks including the Carmel Mission, 17-Mile Drive, Carmel Beach, Ocean Avenue, Mission Ranch, Tor House & Hawk Tower and Golden Bough Playhouse.
